PARKER COLLEGE BECOMES NEWEST ICA AFFILIATED CHIROPRACTIC EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION

Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas, one of the fastest growing chiropractic educational institutions in the United States, has become a formal affiliate of the International Chiropractors Association (ICA). ICA’s Board of Directors unanimously voted to accept Parker’s application to become an affiliated college on June 28 th, and enthusiastically welcomed Parker College into the official ICA community.

“We look forward to an exciting period of close cooperation with Parker College and all of our affiliated educational institutions, to build a stronger, brighter future for future generations of chiropractors,” said ICA President Dr. John K. Maltby. “ ICA is deeply honored by the new relationship with Parker College and appreciates and respects the expression of support by the Parker College leadership for ICA’s vision for the chiropractic profession this new status represents,” he said.

" Parker College of Chiropractic is honored to be accepted as an affiliate educational institution of the ICA. We look forward to the continued collaborative efforts with the ICA and other affiliate institutions to help in the advancement of the Chiropractic profession.
"Said, Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker College and Parker Seminars.

Parker College of Chiropractic is named after its late founder, Dr. James William Parker, who was a member of the ICA for over 50 years. Parker College was chartered by the State of Texas on March 8, 1978, and the campus, located in Irving, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, officially opened on September 12, 1982. The first class of 27 students graduated in September 1985.

After the opening of the Irving campus, enrollment increased dramatically and the college moved to a larger campus in Dallas in September 1989. In September 1993, enrollment had reached 1,000 students, making it the third largest chiropractic college in the world. The original Irving campus was converted to a chiropractic wellness center where patients continue to receive chiropractic care.

With students, graduates and applicants from every state, all Canadian provinces and approximately 100 foreign countries, Parker College is a truly diversified, international institution of higher learning.

ICA is the only chiropractic association that has a formal affiliation status for educational institutions. Parker College joins Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa, Palmer West, Life University, Life Chiropractic College West, Cleveland Chiropractic College Kansas City and Cleveland Chiropractic College, Los Angeles as affiliated chiropractic educational institutions. Three representatives from the affiliated colleges sit on ICA’s Board of Directors and have major input in ICA priorities and direction.

ICA has enjoyed a strong and positive relationship with Parker College over the years and in fact, Parker is the only chiropractic college that automatically signs up every student as an ICA member so that they may have the benefit of member communications and publications during their educational experience. “ICA recognizes a true sense of responsibility to its affiliated educational institutions and their student populations and closer cooperation and better communications are the first step towards a stable and secure environment for those in practice today, and in the years to come,” said Dr. Maltby.
