Chiropractic College President Elects Not to Renew Contract:
Board of Trustees to Perform National Search for Replacement
PORTLAND, Ore., July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- William H. Dallas, D.C., President of
Western States Chiropractic College (WSCC), recently informed the Board of
Trustees that he has elected not to renew his contract as leader of the
institution at the end of the college's fiscal year, June 30, 2003.
As President of the college since 1986, Dr. Dallas has brought many positive
changes to both Western States Chiropractic College as well as to the
chiropractic profession as a whole. One of Dr. Dallas' strongest contributions
to the College was his commitment to a research department with ongoing
administrative and financial support. This resulted in WSCC becoming the first
chiropractic college ever to receive a federally funded research grant through
HRSA (the Health Resources & Services Administration -- a division of the U.S.
Department of Health & Human Services). Dr. Dallas also spearheaded the
establishment and publication of Conservative Care Pathways and Protocols by the
college for chiropractic procedures.
One of his most recent contributions to the advancement of the college has been
the construction of Hampton Hall -- a state-of-the-art lecture hall that greatly
enhances the learning experience of students at the institution. He also has
placed a strong focus on the value of an evidence-based, scientific chiropractic
curriculum. Dr. Dallas was instrumental in the development of the college's
commitment to academic excellence, as evidenced by the students' NBCE (National
Board of Chiropractic Examiners) board scores, which rank consistently above the
national average. The integration of health care "for the good of the patient"
-- Dr. Dallas's own professional philosophy -- has become the college's tag
line.
During Dr. Dallas' tenure as President, he also served as President (2001 -
2003) and Secretary-Treasurer (1999 - 2001) of the Association of Chiropractic
Colleges (ACC); President (1996 - 1998), Vice President (1994 - 1995) and
Secretary-Treasurer (1992 - 1993) of the Council on Chiropractic Education
(CCE); and held numerous offices with the American Chiropractic Association (ACA)
throughout his career.
The numerous contributions made to Western States Chiropractic College by Dr.
Dallas are greatly appreciated by the Board of Trustees and the constituents of
the college. The WSCC Board of Trustees will begin a search for his replacement
in the near future.
